What’s in my desk? What does that reveal about me? Here are a few quick thoughts from Day 8 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge.

What could it possibly mean?
Lots of pens, hidden in various places, especially far in the backs of drawers where I forget about them.
I have a fear of losing pens.
One full tin of Altoids.
They don’t last long, especially once I start sharing with students.
Many empty tins of Altoids, filled with various small items (spare change, nuts and bolts, eraser caps, keys, etc.)
I like to reuse rather than discard, and I like to be organized.
Several packages of Crayola Markers, bought for 99 cents at Staples, probably ten years ago.
I love bargains, but hate to run out – so I hesitate to use them all.
One drawer of old class photos, knick knacks (gifts from students) and other assorted items.
I can’t let go of these.
Two screwdrivers
Just in case.
Way too many boxes of staples that I swear I never ordered.
?
Just enough post-it notes for the year, various sizes and colors.
So essential.
Fishing line and clothes pins
Perfect for hanging charts by the windows.

I’ve come across a few other posts in this challenge where teachers have mentioned ditching their desks altogether. I’m wondering if it’s time for me to do the same. I wonder if I’d miss it. I wonder what I’d gain by getting rid of it. The thought has been with me for awhile, so I’m going to have to give it a try sooner or later. In the meantime, I’ll start finding places for all of the contents.
