I have a new view of distance learning after reading Farhad Saba’s article “Distance Education in the United States: Past, Present, Future” (2011). I had never considered Sesame Street to be a form a distance learning, but it definitely is. I also never realized how distance learning has traditionally been used to serve the underprivileged. I think that continues to be true today, especially when the Internet can bring learning opportunities to every corner of the globe. Still, there are issues of quality with distance learning. What makes a good distance learning experience? What is the future of distance learning? I have created my first Storify to reflect on Saba’s article.
